Tribal influences and a little bit of the past. These new necklaces have a feel of nomadic life and remind me a little of retro friendship bracelets. The cotton rope is so soft and the necklace closes at the side with a train clasp that is both unusal and convenient. The salvaged vintage chain, wool wrapped cotton rope, and silk tassles are what set these necklaces apart. All aspects of these necklaces are handmade by me...apart from smelting the metals. I am so excited about them and hope to incorporate more of the two influences in them. I am expecting an order of bronze chunky chain and I plan on really taking the idea of the friendship braclet to the next step by weaving embriodery thread through the loops.

I used to sit on the curb with my brother and sell the braids of thread to the neighborhood kids for a quarter, and I am still doing relatively the same thing today. Viva la art!
