Getting in the Sprit.

It is that time of year again. Time for lefse making, cookie decorating, and eating large amounts of food. But in the small business world it means making money. We have to start early on the holiday grind. At Hello the House I have started to revamp my space into a funky winter wonderland. I want to stand out and be the space to come to for fun and unconventional décor. I have hand dyed over 70 bottle brush trees and made adorable vintage cars into "traveling" snow globes.

I just love how these little winter scenes turned out and I am bound to make more. Looking forward to the weekend as the start of the official shopping season and big traffic at the store. I am anxious to see how sales are and what everyone is finding at the shop. It isn't the reason for the season but in the cycle of the dollar my art and crafts being sold help me and my family pay the bills and enjoy our holiday as well. Cheers to all.

Ho ho ho

I really hate/love getting these catologs from Anthropologie. They are my enemy yet I love them. They feed my creative side. I can't even count how many times I have posted about this shop and I how I miss it and love it and hate it and NEED every over priced thing in there. I do get tons of good ideas when I get the catalogs and walk through the store though. I have even taken to collecting these paper emphera and displaying it in my at shows... ohhh swoon.

Pillow Talk

So a weekend of trying to get myself back to myself. I sure made a mess of things. But I am closer to finishing my projects. I have of course added more to what I want at the show. It just wouldn't make sense to just concentrate on what I already have so I added more to my list of things to do... classic.

I found my inspiration in the pages of the new Anthropologie catalog (first two images) and tried my hand at making or starting to piece together some similar pillows. They have images of animals, vintage trim and tassels, a home spun sort of feeling to them.

The only things I have bought to try out these new creations are zippers, and a few more iron on transfers. All the other materials came from my own collection of trim and material. I will not have the same prices as the infamous, Anthropologie, but the feel and the style are still there. I hope that they turn out.
